The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Business Administration is taking its thirty-five years of experience and reputation as an internationally top-ranked institution in supply chain management and launching a Global Supply Chain Institute.
"If you want practical solutions and practical research applied to real-world practical issues, UT's Global Supply Chain Institute is the place to be," said J. Paul Dittmann, institute director. "This provides unsurpassed networking and benchmarking opportunities for our corporate partners and grounds our cutting-edge research in reality."
UT saw the need to create a comprehensive resource to coordinate its diverse global supply chain initiatives and leverage the synergies among them across the college, university, industry, and international educational partners.
"Our new Global Supply Chain Institute provides a comprehensive source 'of all information supply chain' to our outside constituencies," said Matt Myers, associate dean of executive education.
The institute, housed in the college's Center for Executive Education, embraces the following supply chain programs and initiatives:
• Four global and domestic industry forums, currently affiliated with more than 50 sponsoring organizations and partner universities in Europe, Latin America and Asia
• A one-year Global Supply Chain Executive MBA program, launching 2013
• Supply-chain focused non-degree short courses and certifications
• Undergraduate, MBA and Ph.D. supply chain areas of educational focus
• Worldwide industry partnerships
• Cutting-edge supply chain research
• Supply chain organizational audits
• Award-winning faculty
• Global advisory board
The board will meet quarterly through a web conference. The inaugural session will be May 31, 2011.
