PeopleNet, a vendor of internet-based onboard computing and mobile communications technology, has launched a new Logistics Intelligence platform. The tool makes possible drill-down, comparative reporting, which covers extended time periods. Based on SAP's Business Objects, the platform underlies the company's new PerformX Dashboard. A graphical display identifies the highest and lowest-performing drivers or vehicles according to engine-related performance metrics, including speed, RPM, fuel efficiency and idle time. Users can also drill down to PerformX Dashboard's real-time metrics display from Logistics Intelligence. Reporting options by driver or vehicle include number of log (hours and payroll), location (by GPS), messaging and PerformX engine diagnostics, as well as administrative reports. Managers can schedule reports to arrive at regular intervals, or call up the data anytime through the PeopleNet Fleet Manager website's Logistics Intelligence portal. Users can toggle between various reports to compare performance in a number of ways. In a related development, PeopleNet has entered into a partnership with Summary Systems, enabling integration of Summary's Point of Delivery Mobile Suite software with PeopleNet's onboard computing system. The move gives fleets the opportunity to automate delivery routes, streamline dispatch and driver operations, eliminate paperwork, and take better advantage of the onboard wireless network and lower-cost handheld hardware. The device-agnostic software can be implemented in the Windows Mobile or Windows CE platform of virtually any lower-cost handheld device, PeopleNet said.
