Alliance Says Lean Is a Good Thing and Wants Members to Talk It Up

When it comes to lean, book learning is not enough. The Metrolina Lean Alliance encourages area companies to share their continuous improvement journeys to everyone's benefit. Their view is that the many books published on the subject can't help in the way that discussion groups can when members share their real-world experiences.

The alliance is a member-based group of organizations located in the Rock Hill, S.C.-Charlotte, N.C., region. Organization members share ideas about lean with each other during monthly meetings at rotating facilities, with the host location demonstrating its lean efforts under way. The Metrolina alliance is one of seven South Carolina lean alliances sponsored by that state's Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
