CMA CGM Group Launches Direct Service Between Asia and West Africa

The CMA CGM Group has launched a direct container service linking Asia with West Africa. Dubbed WAX II, the new service is being operated in partnership with CSAV. It will deploy 10 vessels, five from each partner, with capacity of between 2,500 and 3,100 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Destinations served include China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon. The new service offers improved coverage of West Africa ports, with a direct call to Cameroon at the Port of Douala; enhanced transshipment capacity from Lome to Cotonou; a call to CMA CGM's hub in Port Kelang, and improved transit time of 22 days between Apapa, first port of call on the west coast of Africa, and Port Kelang.
