Apple Polishes Its Sustainability Credentials with Commitment to Renewable Energy

Coal-generated electricity has garnered the electronics giant a great deal of criticism. The decision complements plans for a data center currently in Newark, Calif., and one planned for Prineville, Ore., to go 100-percent renewable.

Two solar array installations are being built to support the North Carolina center, and both will use high-efficiency solar cells and an advanced solar tracking system.
