Cognex Enhances Line of Barcode Readers With 2DMax+ Technology

The company's devices can now identify and decode severely damaged or poorly marked 2D matrix codes. In addition, they are unaffected by variations in lighting, marking method, code quality or surface finish, Cognex said. Having reported success in the use of 2DMax+ in its DataMan 300 and 500 series of readers, Cognex is now deploying it for those who require a smaller form factor. The functionality is especially useful in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and consumer goods packaging sectors, the company said. Such industries often must cope with poor print quality, varying part sizes, curved surfaces and labels damaged by environmental factors. Built-in error correction capability allows for reading even when codes are incomplete, critical elements are missing, or codes are over- or underexposed.
