GS1 US Creates Data Hub for Access to Industry Standards

February 24, 2014

The specific combination of numbers embedded within GS1 identifiers and barcodes identifies companies. Data Hub was developed to help users improve the quality of data in their businesses and applications. It is also available via an application programming interface (API) developer portal. Users can review both active and inactive company prefixes issued by GS1 US, verify new trading partners to prevent the sale of counterfeit products, and reduce the need to re-key information into existing systems. Users can easily download files and information to use and integrate with other applications, according to GS1 US. Company prefixes can be searched in a variety of ways, including company name, Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) or Global Location Number (GLN). GS1 US, a member of GS1, is an information-standards organization for supply-chain applications.
