UP Boosts Frequency of Premium Intermodal Services

Both are part of the railroad’s premium intermodal service, with four-day delivery in the morning. The Portland-Chicago service, dubbed Portland Premium, operates six days per week westbound and five days per week eastbound. The Northern California-Chicago service, called NorCal, utilizes UP’s Oakland and Lathrop intermodal ramps, operating between five and seven days per week, depending on direction and specific origin-destination points. The services offer access to EMP and UMAX containers. UP also provides wholesale, door-to-door transportation via its Streamline subsidiary. The railroad made $4.1bn in capital investments in 2014. Its network covers 23 states in the western U.S.
