ALK Adds Weather Alerts to Maps, PC-MILER Platforms

The new tool allows fleet managers to identify weather-alert information overlaid on the existing ALK Maps route-visualization platform, to assess the impact on route planning. It pulls in severe weather alerts directly from the National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. According to ALK, there are more than 120 different alert types to enable fleets to plan for and avoid all types of inclement weather, including storm warnings, wind advisories, hurricane and flood alerts. They are categorized based on the degree of severity, urgency and certainty.
