IDC Manufacturing Insights Offers Road Map for PLM
The road map is intended to help companies build product-innovation platforms across the supply chain, while enhancing customer service. According to IDC, they need to incorporate open innovation, product-lifecycle economics, decision support, systems engineering and quality management. Organizations can use the IDC study to identify where they stand in relation to platform excellence, and create a path toward achieving "world-class" PLM. IDC identifies five critical elements that manufacturers should have in place, including a single instance of product data for the global team, full spectrum of PLM, enhanced collaboration between engineering and manufacturing, integrated quality and compliance management, and product and service-lifecycle integration.
