Terra Technology Issues Multi-Enterprise Demand Sensing Application

Terra Technology, a vendor of demand-sensing and inventory-optimization software for consumer products companies, has released an application known as Multi-Enterprise Demand Sensing. The latest addition to Terra's product portfolio decreases forecast error by 20 percent or more, by incorporating demand signals from throughout the supply chain, including point-of-sale (POS) data, channel inventory and retailer forecasts, the vendor claimed. Multi-Enterprise Demand Sensing uses POS data in a structured, automatic way to improve forecast accuracy, Terra said. It analyzes retailer order patterns and the impact of channel inventory. And it determines an optimal forecast by taking into account demand signals from all supply-chain participants. A "touchless" approach leads to minimal user interaction, enabling automated forecast management, the company said.
