Robots in the Warehouse: A Necessity for Survival?

October 21, 2021

Bob Bowman

Over the years, the technology of robotics in the warehouse has evolved from something that’s nice to have to an absolute necessity.

Robots have been a feature of warehouses and distribution centers for many years. But like many innovative technologies, what began as an appealing tool for early adopters has become a necessity for just about everyone. Today, robots encompass virtually every aspect of warehouse operations, making it possible for retailers and distributors to meet the relentless demands of consumers for rapid turnaround of orders. On this episode, we discuss the state of the art of robotics, and where they technology fits into the modern-day warehouse, with Martin McLean, president of Intek. We also address its limitations. But McLean’s message to warehouses today is clear: “Automate or die.”
