IKEA Chooses viastore for Savannah DC

IKEA reportedly has retained viastore systems to provide the automated storage retrieval system for a distribution center being built in Savannah, Ga. viastore systems will manufacture and integrate 13 viapal storage/retrieval machines to handle the wide assortment of IKEA home furnishing products.
Commenting on the 786,000 square-foot distribution center, Jim Leddy, IKEA distribution services project manager, says: "We conducted a very thorough search of the industry's leading material handling companies. We are excited to be working with viastore in the U.S. because they have proven to be a good partner on other IKEA projects around the world."
IKEA has used viastore to implement two material handling systems in Germany. Another is under construction in Spain.
