GAC-Ultramar Network Adds Two Countries to South American Coverage

August 20, 2008

GAC-Ultramar Network, part of the GAC global shipping organization, has added Colombia and Ecuador to its list of countries served in South America. Formed in 2004, the venture combines GAC's global reach with Ultramar Network's local expertise in providing port and hub services to vessel operators in South America. Countries previously served by the network include Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. According to Lars Heisselberg, GAC group vice president, Colombia and Ecuador operate some of the busiest ports and trade lanes in South America. GAC-Ultramar offers tramp and liner agency services. With headquarters in Bogota, it maintains additional offices in Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Cartagena, Santa Maria, Puerto Bolivar, Covenas, Cali and Medellin. GAC-Ultramar Ecuador is the product of a port agency operating agreement between Ultramar Network Chile and Grupo Transoceanica. Ports served by the entity include Esmeraldas, Guayaquil, Manta, Puerto Boliver, La Libertad and Galapagos.
