Eli Lilly to Partner With Amazon Pharmacy in Latest Shift for Pharma Supply Chain

March 14, 2024

Eli Lilly will be partnering with Amazon Pharmacy to mail a selection of prescription drugs to consumers, the company announced on March 12.

According to CNBC, the pharmaceutical company will use Amazon Pharmacy to deliver a limited range of medications used to treat diabetes, migraines, and obesity to those using Eli Lilly’s direct sales portal, LillyDirect.

Amazon Pharmacy’s free two-day deliveries for Amazon Prime members will also be available for consumers ordering those medications through LillyDirect.

“I think it’s a wonderful advantage,” Eli Lilly senior vice president of global value and access Frank Cunningham said. “The goal is to have a fantastic customer experience, where the product gets to them as soon as possible.”

LillyDirect first launched at the start of 2024. It was designed to offer patients an alternative to having a doctor prescribe a medication directly, or a pharmacy fill it. Instead, it uses an independent telehealth company for prescriptions, as well as a separate online pharmacy that fills the prescriptions and sends the medications out.
