IATA Releases Online Application for Shipping Hazardous Materials by Air

December 21, 2010

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has developed EasyDGR, an online, integrated application for shipping dangerous goods by air in compliance with industry regulations. The offering allows hazardous-materials shippers to create an electronically validated Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD). In the process, IATA said, they can meet airline compliance requirements and avoid rejected shipments. Up to 60 percent of dangerous goods shipments are rejected by airlines due to mistakes in documentation, IATA said. The organization's new, Web-based tool allows for the validation of information in real time. It offers quick-search access to IATA's complete Dangerous Goods Regulations and other reference material. The system generates all required document outputs, including an XML format that is IATA e-freight ready. EasyDGR was created in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization; it is hosted by InfoTrustGroup.
