Tompkins International has formed the Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium for LSPs (Logistics Service Providers). The new initiative is intended to provide LSPs with insight on how they might improve the effectiveness of their services to customers. A fact-based profile feature allows shippers to access LSP information, creating higher visibility for consortium members, Tompkins said. For their part, LSPs can use the database to measure their performance against comparable organizations. In addition, companies will have access to reports, surveys, research and networking opportunities among other LSPs and shippers. They may also attend the consortium's annual education event, the Supply Chain Leadership Forum. The group maintains LinkedIn and Xing groups for qualified companies that are looking to stay current on new developments in supply-chain benchmarking and best practices.
