The freight forwarder and logistics service provider F.S. Mackenzie has launched guaranteed, twice-weekly express road trailer services between Western Europe and Iraq. Offering express groupage and part-loads, the new service is a response to increased demand for goods in growing markets within Iraq, especially in the Kurdistan region, Ryder said. The company had previously announced a business partnership with Mateen Express, an Iraqi freight forwarder and integrated logistics service providers. The new service operates twice a week from hubs in Dortmund, Germany and Basildon, England, transiting to the Mateen Express hub at Erbil, Iraq. Trailers travel via Italy, where they are taken by ferry to Mersin, Turkey for onward movement to Erbil. Cargo moved by F.S. Mackenzie during trials included equipment for the oil and gas industries. The company is part of the Famous Pacific Shipping family of freight forwarders.
