Intelligrated, a vendor of automated material-handling technology, has opened the Alvey Robotics Lab at its engineering and manufacturing facility in St. Louis, Mo. The 5,050-square-foot research and development lab will focus on developing and applying robotic innovations, in addition to giving customers access to equipment testing and demonstrations prior to installation. The facility will concentrate on the application of robotics to automated material-handling applications, including palletizing, depalletizing, case packing, and picking and packing. Spearheaded by the company's Robotics Integration Group, the lab will emphasize innovation in end-of-arm tooling, vision systems, operator interface, controls and the development of associated equipment. It will also provide educational opportunities for local students and universities. Headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, Intelligrated has operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. It serves the warehousing, distribution consumer product manufacturing, postal and parcel markets.
