Food and Beverage IQ, a division of IQPC, announces its 3rd Annual Cold Chain Management for Food & Beverage being held July 25-28, 2011 in Chicago, IL to address how to ensure a safe and secure "Farm to Fork" supply chain for sensitive consumable products.
It is estimated that approximately fifty percent of worldwide food production is lost due to inefficiencies in transportation, distribution and storage of perishables. The current US Administration has made food safety a major priority by increasing FDA funding and creating the Food Safety Working Group. There are major regulatory changes pending for 2011 that will likely result in increased FDA and USDA activity and place significant responsibilities on food processors to prevent contamination.
The 3rd Annual Cold Chain Management for Food & Beverage program will include:
Commenting on creating a safe, well-coordinated, and traceable supply chain, and the steps necessary to achieve it, Susan Zucker, Director of Supply Chain at Agri-Mark Dairy Cooperative, noted their company makes continual efforts to look at business processes and IT infrastructure, and keeps up to date with industry leaders to see where improvements and advancements can be made. In an interview with Food & Beverage IQ Ms. Zucker stated, 'we continued our learning...to keep figuring out not only what is the industry doing, but what are food companies and standard companies doing to get terminology around some of these traceability and recall programs." Ms. Zucker also spoke to creating effective teams and planning and organizing traceability data.
