APICS, The Association for Operations Management, has become a charter member of the new Supply Chain and Logistics Certification Network. The initiative consists of U.S.-based, non-profit associations that provide national certifications for professionals and front-line organizations involved in supply-chain and logistics activities in warehouses, distribution centers and carriers. Other charter members include the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, Institute for Supply Management, Manufacturing Skill Standards Council and Warehousing Education and Research Council. Each develops courses and certification assessments on a nationwide basis. APICS promotes knowledge and expertise in various aspects of supply chain and operations management, including production, inventory and materials management, purchasing and logistics.
