Port Jersey Logistics, a provider of public warehousing and distribution services, is introducing a less-than-truckload (LTL) consolidation and pool distribution program in New England. Offered through the company's Continental Logistics division, the service will include scheduled departures of combined shipments from Port Jersey's Tyler Distribution warehouse in New Jersey to all points in New England. According to the company, pool distribution can save shippers significant amounts of money when compared with direct LTL shipping. The option also leads to reduced transit times, fewer claims due to less overall handling, and shipment and temperature integrity, according to Port Jersey. Additional regions will be added throughout the year, with the goal of establishing a national consolidation program by early 2012. Other services provided by Port Jersey Logistics include bonded storage, packaging, repacking, heat-shrink wrapping, labeling and ticketing, product return, creation of point-of-purchase displays, container drayage, freight management and fulfillment.
