Swiss WorldCargo has become a founding member of IG (Interest Group) Air Cargo Switzerland, an association formed to represent the interests of the Swiss air cargo community. The group's primary aim is to offer a platform for discussion among cargo airlines, freight forwarders, airports, integrators, motor carriers, handling agents, general sales agents, shippers and other members of the community. In the process, the air cargo industry gets a "strong and distinctive voice" in shaping Switzerland's infrastructure and regulatory environment, Swiss WorldCargo said. Topics to be addressed including the need for adequate space at airports to accommodate industry growth, the harmonization of security processes, development of electronic freight systems and improvements in the information flow within the airfreight industry. Membership is open to any Swiss-based company, individual or association involved in the air cargo business. The group's first president is Peter Somaglia, managing director of Cargologic, the Zurich-based ground handling company. Swiss WorldCargo is the airfreight division of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd.
