Finnair Cargo plans to launch all-cargo flights to Mumbai with Nordic Global Airlines. The new cargo service between Helsinki and Mumbai will begin Sept. 16, on Fridays, on a once-weekly basis with MD-11F aircraft. Pertti Mero, vice president of global sales at Finnair Cargo, stated: "The new freighter services offer fast connections between India and Northern Europe. According to our customers there is great need for cargo capacity especially between Nordic Countries and Mumbai." In another statement, by Antero J. Lahtinen, senior vice president of the airline, stated: "This is in line with Finnair Cargo's vision to be number one in the Nordic countries and to be the most desired option in transit between Asia and Europe. According to our plans, North America and India will be a natural expansion direction."
Colombia reports cargo traffic grew 4 percent in the first half of the year. The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority reports that air cargo during the first half of 2011 air cargo traffic reached 347 thousand tons. International cargo was 283,000 tons, 12,000 more than in the same period last year, while domestic reached 64,000 tons for an increase of 1,500 tons. Eighty-five percent of the total air cargo was generated by flower exports.
