Qualcomm Inc. has made commercially available its Trip Manager application. The new tool was designed to help companies better manage their truck fleets, boost driver productivity, control costs and improve customer service, Qualcomm said. The application is integrated with the vendor's Workflow application to address the planning, viewing and management of routes and drivers in near-real time. Trip Manager displays key trip information to fleet managers and other back-office staff through interactive maps, reports and queries. Managers can use the data to monitor planned versus actual route performance, discern trends, identify potential service failures and determine areas for improvement. Other features include graphical maps overlaid with truck position and stop data; electronically stored data on drivers, trips, stops and vehicles, for later query and reporting; over-the-air software upgrades, and Web services for integration with third-party routing software. Trip Manager is available on Qualcomm's Mobile Computing Platforms 110 and 200.
