Schenker AG has established a regional head office in Dubai, to support operations in the Middle East and East Africa. Previously, the company was represented in Dubai by partners. It has now set up a joint venture there with Al Naboodah, a former partner of BAX Global. Both Schenker and BAX are part of DB Logistics, the transportation and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn AG. The move enables Schenker to offer customers in Dubai services from a single source, according to Thomas C. Lieb, a member of Schenker's management board, and responsible for global air and ocean freight. The company plans to set up additional country organizations in the Middle East region and East Africa. For now, it will coordinate activities from the Dubai base for the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
