Emirates SkyCargo has become a "premium" partner of Envirotainer, the developer of temperature-controlled containers for the air-cargo market. In the process, Emirates becomes Envirotainer's strategic partner in the Middle East. The agreement gives Emirates SkyCargo the highest level of access to Envirotainer products. The airline will get a dedicated account manager within Envirotainer, access to research and development and consulting services, and a higher level of flexibility in shipping across both companies' networks. Emirates began cooperating with Envirotainer in 2003. Since then, it has established specific handling procedures to protect temperature-controlled shipments, backed by a dedicated Cool Chain team and global training program. Envirotainer recently decided to focus solely on serving the pharmaceutical market, with its fleet of more than 3,500 active temperature-controlled containers. The company has boosted by 10 percent its fleet incorporating the latest dry-ice technology. The announcement coincides with Envirotainer's decision to make Dubai one of its network stations, where the company provides full maintenance support for its products, and houses a larger stock of containers.
