The freight division of Emirates Airlines, Emirates SkyCargo, has taken delivery of its third B777 freighter aircraft. The 777F will be deployed to Brazil serving Sao Paulo three times weekly complementing Emirates Airlines daily passenger service to GRU.
In other action, Cargolux will take delivery of the first B747-8 freighter on September 19, and a second two days later. The airline has a total of 13 aircraft on order. Frank Reimen, CEO of Cargolux said, "It is great to receive our fist two B747-8 Freighters within just a few days. We are proud to be the world's first cargo operator to benefit from the game-changing performance and efficiency of this ground-breaking aircraft."
Ethiopian Airlines is concluding a $260m deal with Boeing for four B777 freighters, with delivery from 2014. The aircraft will replace two leased B747s from Southern Air. The airline also plans to take delivery of two leased B777Fs from GECAS by the end of October 2012, which will prompt it to sell one MF11F and return another to lessor.
