Savi Technology and IFS Defense are partnering in a venture to provide integrated, real-time data systems to the aerospace and defense (A&D) market. The jointly marketed software suite, enhanced by radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, is intended to improve visibility, accuracy and performance of shipments moving through defense supply chains. The companies will integrate Savi's RFID systems for asset management with IFS's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The offering should help reduce lead times and stock holdings, prioritize consignments and ensure the accurate delivery of supplies, the partners said. It was developed in response to defense-industry needs for better end-to-end visibility of goods in transit, as well as shorter and less-expensive delivery of consignments across increasingly extended supply chains. Savi's SmartChain Consignment Management Solution is designed automatically to track and manage consignments equipped with RFID tags and other types of automatic identification and data collection devices. The tool also provides automated alerts, environmental conditions, and analysis.
