The liner services group of Crowley Maritime Corp. has acquired 222 additional 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers and 133 under-slung power generator sets. The new equipment is being added in preparation for the peak perishables shipping season in Central America, running from November through May of each year. Delivered in Santo Tomas, Guatemala, the reefers will be used in all of the carrier's liner services. Since 2003, Crowley has invested nearly $240m to modernize its equipment fleet by some 24,000 units. Currently its fleet of equipment consists of more than 45,000 units.
