Lufthansa Cargo has opened a new facility for temperature-controlled freight in Frankfurt, Germany. Built in just six months, the Lufthansa Cargo Cool Center features four cool-storage rooms, permitting four different temperature ranges, along with a deep-freezer cell within a space of 4,500 square meters. Henceforth, all temperature-controlled shipments carried by the airline in Frankfurt will pass through the new facility. Lufthansa Cargo has recently undertaken a new capital investment in temperature-controlled services, including creation of the Cool/td product and development of the Opticooler, a cooling container. In addition, it has commenced operations at its first international pharmaceuticals hub at Hyderabad, India. The service is geared toward medicines, vaccines and insulin that must be maintained within narrow temperature margins throughout the transport chain.
