AirBridgeCargo Airlines has begun scheduled all-cargo service to Chengdu International Airport in the western China province of Sichuan. Operated by a B747-400 freighter, the service adds Chengdu to ABC's existing route between Zhengzhou, Moscow and Amsterdam, with links to other destinations in Europe. AirBridgeCargo and the Volga-Dnepr Group have previously serviced Chengdu with charter flights, utilizing the latter's AN-124 cargo aircraft. They also provided emergency freighter flights to Chengdu in May, 2008, delivering relief goods, medical and rescue equipment after the region was hit by a severe earthquake. The new scheduled route will operate three times weekly. AirBridgeCargo Airlines already has a strong presence in China's traditional airfreight markets of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing and Zhengzhou.
