Con-way Freight has opened an expanded freight-assembly center in Montgomery, New York. The facility covers 67,000 square feet and features 63 new dock doors. It expands Con-way's freight-handling capacity at the site to 3.6m pounds per day, an addition of 2m pounds daily. The site now has 140 dock doors to accommodate the estimated 163 trailers and 65 tractors that arrive each day. According to Con-way, the center is strategically located to serve the region, with easy access to Interstate 84, a major east-west thoroughfare in the Hudson River Valley. The facility is also close to Interstate 87 and the New York State Thruway. It operates around the clock; functions include local pickup and delivery during regular business hours, a daytime linehaul operation which moves freight between Montgomery and other cities within 500 miles, and an evening linehaul and freight-processing and distribution operation. Con-way Freight is a less-than-truckload subsidiary of Con-way Inc.
