According to ALAN president Jock Menzies, FSA and its members will contribute "valuable transportation assets and knowledgeable people with food-specific expertise to disaster response." Up to 80 percent of disaster relief expenditures go toward transporting, warehousing and distributing goods and services to stricken communities, Menzies said. "FSA and the other associations sponsoring ALAN bring a tremendous network of resources that help fill this need." ALAN is a non-profit group dedicated to engaging the supply-chain community in support of disaster-relief efforts. FSA's primary mission is to stage an annual educational Transportation and Logistics Conference, with the goal of boosting supply-chain efficiency across industries.
