Previously covering 327,000 square feet, the facility services Midwestern food manufacturers with distribution, packaging and production capabilities for a broad array of frozen and refrigerated foods. Featuring a low-temperature environment between -10 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit, the center recently was expanded with a 15,000 square-foot, temperature-controlled addition that is equipped to package refrigerated and frozen foods, vegetables, fruits and meats. Ryder has also added a new packaging line with seven-station blending capability, supported by high-speed robotic palletizing and automatic and semi-automatic cartoning. The center now has total space of 342,000 square feet, and can add lines quickly to meet increased volume requirements, Ryder said. It can also provide packaging for a greater variety of products, packaging sizes and blends. Ryder offers more than 28 million square feet of warehouse at some 230 facilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, China, Singapore and Europe.
