The flight operates between the DHL Americas hub in Cincinnati, OH and the Australian cities of Sydney and Melbourne, with time-definite delivery services available to Australian metro areas by 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, as well as end-of-day service. The flight returns to Cincinnati via Hong Kong. DHL will deploy a Boeing 747-400 freighter on the route, with 110 tons of carrying capacity. In another recent company announcement, DHL has opened its largest express hub in Asia. The DHL Express North Asia Hub, located at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport in China, involves an investment of $175m. DHL has announced plans to spend another $132m on eight dedicated aircraft, to service high-demand routes between Shanghai and North Asia, Europe and the U.S., by 2014. Covering 105,000 square yards, DHL Express's North Asia Hub can process up to 20,000 documents and 20,000 parcels an hour. The company's four Asia-Pacific hubs are in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore.
