U-Freight, an Asia-based provider of freight services, has opened a third dedicated logistics warehouse in Hong Kong. The facility is located in Yuen Long, near the fourth border crossing between the Special Administrative Region and the People's Republic of China. It will be operated by the company's wholly owned subsidiary, U-Freight Logistics, which was set up in 2002 to provide a full range of logistics services and supply-chain management. The 60,000-square-foot facility, which can be customized to meet the needs of individual accounts, was designed primarily to provide cross-docking and temperature-controlled storage and distribution. The warehouse also serves as a container freight station for oceangoing cargoes. It is equipped with two cargo lifts and enough racking for the storage of 1,000 pallets over two floors. It also features an electrostatic discharge protection (ESD) repacking room, designed for customers in the electronics industry. Other aspects of the new warehouse serve customers involved in the manufacture, purchase and retail sale of garments and accessories. U-Freight has installed the latest version of its proprietary Warehouse Operating System (WOS), to provide customers with supply-chain visibility.
