Tracking Cot Movement in the Emergency Department with RFID

Solution: Barcoding, Inc. worked with the client to develop an RFID cot tracking solution to track the movements of cots in and out of the ED entrance, capturing date and time. With this data, the hospital can identify the length of time each cot (aka each EMS team) was there.
Each EMS cot was affixed with a rugged RFID tag. At the EMS entrance, the CaptureTech CTR3100 reader was mounted on the wall to track the cot movements automatically.
Results: With visibility to critical data from its ED entrance (when EMS crews enter, when they leave, and how long they stay), our client can now anticipate busier times and adjust staff accordingly- creating a better overall ED experience.
