"This joint venture will enable us to help more businesses achieve their sustainability goals and keep ahead of growing regulatory demands for greater environmental responsibility," said Dan Musachia, president of HGS. The joint venture will go to market as Recycling & Waste Solutions, a division of HGS, leveraging a nation-wide network of more 5000 haulers and hundreds of recycling centers, composters and waste-to-energy facilities to provide managed services for waste and recycling, as well as brokerage services for large, centralized quantities of recyclables in the U.S. and Canada.
"More and more retailers, grocery chains and quick-serve-restaurants feel the pressure from today's environmentally conscious consumers and are responding with comprehensive corporate social responsibility programs," said Anthony DiIenno, president of Alpha Waste Solutions. "Our mission is to provide national companies with multiple sites one place to go for a full suite of recycling and waste management solutions that drive down cost, increase recycling revenue and divert materials from landfills.
Unlike many companies providing services in this area, HGS and Alpha Waste Solutions do not own landfills, paper mills or trucks, and are able to deliver a "neutral" solution customized for the unique needs of each organization. In addition to sustainability, recycling and waste solutions, the company will also purchase commodities that are traded globally for a broad range of materials.
