Siemens Home and Office Communications Devices (Shanghai) Ltd. has named Kuehne & Nagel as a provider of domestic warehousing and distribution services in China. The deal covers the full range of Siemens' Gigaset products, including cordless phones, home media devices and broadband products. Kuehne & Nagel will perform a variety of logistics services for the client, including inbound receipt, storage, pick and pack operations and distribution to customers across China. To support the arrangement, Kuehne & Nagel has established a high-security spare parts and repair center at its multi-user facility in Shanghai. Covering 10,500 square meters, the operation includes state-of-the-art warehouse management systems, such as barcode scanning technology that utilizes radio-frequency identification. The setup allows for the relaying of information throughout Siemens' supply chain, down to the item level. Kuehne & Nagel's capabilities in China will permit it to scale up services as Siemens expands its business in China, the provider said.
