Sato America, Inc., a vendor of barcode printing, labeling and radio frequency identification systems, has introduced a high-speed thermal transfer ribbon. Known as JetWax, the ribbon can produce scannable barcodes, sharp images and human-readable text at real-time print speeds of up to 16 inches per second, Sato claimed. It is designed for use with Sato's newest original equipment manufacturer (OEM) print-engine family, the S84 series. The JetWax ribbon is compatible with a wide variety of substrates, including gloss, matte-coated and uncoated paper, and a selection of poly materials. It is designed to provide resistance against scratches, smearing, heat and water. According to Sato, the ribbon is ideal for high-speed automated printing and applications, date and lot coding, retail compliance labeling, shipping labels, and other applications where product line speeds dictate the need for high-velocity labeling. Sato's products include barcode printers, scanners, handheld terminals, label-design software and consumables. Its technology is compatible with Electronic Product Code (EPC) standards.
