The new tool calculates a combined transportation cost for less-than-truckload (LTL) and less-than-containerload (LCL) shipments for specific origin-destination routes. Users get a variety of routing and sailing options, allowing for the evaluation and selection of transportation services based on transit time, estimated time of arrival at destination, and cost. The application computes costs based on origin and destination locations, cargo pickup date, number of pieces, weight and freight volume. Calculation of the cost of special cargoes, such as hazardous materials, is also available. CaroTrans customers can access door-to-port rates on the company's North American homepage.
