It has opened a new center in Salinas, Calif. to accommodate increased demand in the Central Coast region. The 10-door facility is located along Interstate 101. Potential customers include the region's agricultural and industrial sectors. Old Dominion has also relocated its service center in Des Moines, Iowa. The new center, twice the size of its predecessor, includes 132 doors on a 32-acre site. It was designed to handle freight traveling along Interstates 80 and 35, which intersect in Des Moines. In addition, Old Dominion has relocated its Cincinnati, OH service center to a larger facility, to better serve customers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The move increases the center's size from 46 to 157 doors. The recent actions are part of a $95m investment that Old Dominion is making in real-estate purchases and expansion projects in 2013.
