AirBridgeCargo (ABC) Airlines, the scheduled cargo airline of Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group, was readying as of last week a new Boeing 747F service from Moscow's Domodedovo Airport to Tokyo's Narita Airport. The service, which expands ABC's presence in the Japanese market, was due to take off on Sept. 7. The airline launched services to Nagoya in early 2006, under a long-term relationship with Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA). Currently it operates three flights a week to Nagoya. Launch of the services to and from Tokyo follows successful negotiations between Russian and Japanese aviation authorities. At the outset, ABC will operate one flight a week on the Moscow-Tokyo-Krasnoyarsk route. The aviation agreement allows for the further expansion of ABC operations to and from Narita between 2008 and 2010. Under its partnership with NCA, ABC will also provide clients with additional cargo capacity on board NCA's existing twice-weekly flights from Tokyo to Frankfurt, via the ABC hub in Krasnoyarsk in the Russian Far East.
