The National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (NMFTA) has developed a new service known as ACE-lerate. Supported by technology from CrimsonLogic, the offering is meant to help companies involved in cross-border transportation shift over to the new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), a trade-processing system developed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Under ACE, carriers will be required to submit to Customs automated cargo manifests prior to the arrival of shipments at the border. Currently being implemented in select locations, ACE will soon become mandatory for carriers at all border crossings into the U.S. from Canada and Mexico. ACE-lerate is being offered in three versions. ACE Web offers a Web-based interface, so that users can easily store data as well as create shipment and trip templates. ACE Fax allows for the faxing of manifest information to the service center, where data will be reentered into an e-Manifest and sent to Customs. ACE Integration supplies the software to integrate with a user's in-house dispatch program, for sending and receiving ACE data.
