Global Sourcing Solutions, Inc. (GSSI), an international sales and sourcing company, is developing a product-certification program with its Asian vendors and suppliers. The program will draw on the services of a U.S.-based testing laboratory, in order to certify and ensure the safety of Asian imports. According to GSSI, the program will be implemented "at minimal disruption" to the company's clients. Quality-control manufacturing, with regular product inspections to ensure consistency of materials and processes, will also continue. "In light of recent recalls, which have highlighted the handful of bad practices, U.S. consumers need to feel comfortable buying products made in China, and this program represents an important step in rebuilding that trust," said William Ting, vice president of sourcing with GSSI. He expressed confidence that the Chinese government will support GSSI's quality-control efforts.
