CMA CGM said the bonded terminal would give consumers the opportunity, for the first time, to custom-clear their cargo near Baghdad instead of the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr.
It said, "This important upgrade shows the intention of the CMA CGM Group to facilitate its customers' business in Iraq and to strengthen its roots in this flourishing market."
The dry port will be connected to CMA CGM's inland transport network, with a possible railway connection 3km from the site and fast in-bond transit from Umm Qasr.
CMA CGM has been present in Iraq for over 30 years. It has four offices in Iraq, two dedicated feeders connecting Umm Qasr with the Khorfakkan hub, and the exclusive concession of terminal number four at the Umm Qasr port.
