The budget "encourages States with a Race-to-the-Top challenge to cut energy waste and modernize the grid...enhances preparedness and resilience... (and) invests in repairing our existing infrastructure and building the infrastructure of tomorrow, including...power grids that are resilient to future extreme conditions," the organization said in a statement. The budget also calls for making permanent "important tax incentives for...energy efficiency."
"NEMA welcomes the emphasis on energy efficiency," said its president and CEO, Evan R. Gaddis. "Currently, the U.S. wastes more energy than it consumes. Greater energy efficiency will boost economic productivity and competitiveness, enhance U.S. energy security, mitigate power outages, and reduce emissions."
