Rickmers, which specializes in the handling of breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargoes, has taken the Rickmers Savannah on long-term charter. With capacity of 30,000 deadweight tons, the Savannah is identical to the nine vessels of the Rickmers Hamburg class. Each has four large cranes, the two heaviest of which can be twinned for a lifting capacity of up to 640 metric tons. Rickmers launched the Pearl String Service 10 years ago, connecting Europe, Asia and North America. Base ports served include Hamburg, Antwerp, Genoa, Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City or Haiphong, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Masan, Kobe or Yokohama or Nagoya, New Orleans, Houston, Savannah and Philadelphia. Rickmers Group currently manages a fleet of close to 100 vessels.
