The move is intended to improve the efficiency of its parcel-delivery operations and service to customers in the city center, while contributing to a better environment, the company said. The mobile depot consists of a custom-designed trailer, which is subdivided into an office area and space for loading, unloading and sorting. On one side, it can be extended outwards. A lift provides access to electric tricycles, which replace TNT Express vans, for loading and unloading of parcels. The depot can hold 11 containers for the parcels. Each day, the mobile depot will drive from TNT's hub at Brucargo to the car park at Parc du Cinquantenaire in the center of Brussels. The depot will be remain at that location for three months as part of a field experiment, TNT said.
